home > news Trends in the OB GYN Oral Board Exam Trends in the OB GYN Oral Board ExamFor those candidates taking the Oral Ob Gyn boards in 2007 and beyond, please be aware of the following trends that have been noted regarding questions appearing in the exam: Since 2001: Urogynecology is strongly emphasized Since 2002: Primary Care is strongly emphasized 2006: Peri-operative complications Additional issues that appeared for the first time in the 2006 exam which all future candidates should be ready to answer: 'Hard Core' Internal Medicine (as opposed to Ob/Gyn): Management of asthma Management of hypertension Management of angina Management of diarrhea (in multiple different settings) Management of dyslipidemia Management of chronic headache Management of depression OB topics: HPV vaccination Ambiguous genitalia Primary amenorrhea (be aware that this could also lead into a discussion on ambiguous genitalia!) Mangement of peri-oeprative complications: Pre-op hypercalemia Pre-op hyperglycemia Post-op hypovolemia Pre-op alcohol intoxication Candidates for this exam should consider trying to find as many examples as possible, of past questions.
